Seventeen Group has added Roy Standish to the board of James Hallam, effective this month.

Standish, a seasoned insurance professional, joined the broking subsidiary in 2019, leading its partnership broker programme before moving on to manage insurer relationships as distribution director. His expanded role will now include a focus on broker mergers and acquisitions, aligning with James Hallam’s strategic growth initiatives.

On being appointed, Standish expressed his enthusiasm and commitment, saying: “I am absolutely delighted to be joining the James Hallam board and look forward to working with our distribution partners as well as new acquisition opportunities.

“It’s a really exciting time as we drive our refreshed distribution strategy and continue to grow, organically and through acquisitions. I’m really proud to be part of the James Hallam business and helping to build a long-term future as a truly independent, specialised regional broker.”

Prior to Standish’s board appointment, James Hallam made two acquisitions earlier this month: Keith Miller Insurance Services and a book of business relating to Hendricks Insurance. The businesses are set to rebrand to James Hallam in due course.

When the double deal was revealed, Seventeen Group chief executive Paul Anscombe said: “Both are very complementary and bring on board highly experienced individuals to help achieve our growth ambitions.”

This time around, on the James Hallam board announcement, Anscombe had this to say in an emailed statement: “Roy has been a great friend of Seventeen Group for many years. We were delighted to invite him into the business back in 2019 and now onto the board.

“Having previously worked for a major insurer, Roy is uniquely placed to work with our strategic insurer partners to ensure the best outcomes for our clients.”

Standish’s credentials include 32 years spent at Zurich Insurance.
