The total award is $110,000, with $88,000 provided by the grant and a 20% matching contribution of $22,000 from the City.

The Event Center Feasibility Study will explore the viability of establishing an event center in Kingman, assessing the type of facility that would best serve the community, ensure sustainability, and avoid financial strain on the city

This initiative was prompted by City Council’s request for a feasibility study in August 2023. The City believes that an event center could significantly boost the local economy by fostering job creation, business growth, and other economic benefits.

Councilmember Stehly commented, “The Event Center Feasibility Study is a critical step in determining how an event center can drive economic growth and serve as a community hub. We’re committed to making informed decisions that ensure sustainable benefits, such as job creation and business growth, without putting a financial strain on Kingman. This study is the first step in what could be a game-changing journey for our city.”

A feasibility study is crucial for understanding market demand, financial viability, site selection, risk factors, stakeholder engagement, and planning and design considerations

It serves as an essential first step in developing an event center, providing insights that guide informed decision-making, reduce risks, and increase the likelihood of a successful project. The study will explore the feasibility of our resources if they would sustain an event center, a sports complex, or other event venues in our city and/or region.

Additionally, the City’s Economic Development Strategic Plan, last updated in 2019, will be revised

The economic stability and growth Kingman has experienced over the past five years, along with the I-40 TradePort Corridor designation in 2023, necessitate an updated plan. This revision aims to set clear goals for job expansion, education and workforce preparation, infrastructure investments, and other economic advancements.

Bennett Bratley, Kingman’s Economic Development Director, stated, “With the momentum we’ve gained over the past five years and the strategic advantage of the I-40 TradePort Corridor designation, it’s imperative that we update our Economic Development Strategic Plan. This will allow us to set clear, ambitious goals that will drive job creation, enhance education and workforce training, and attract vital infrastructure investments, ensuring Kingman’s continued growth and prosperity.”
