CAIRO – 10 February 2026: Egypt has appointed Major General Engineer Salah Suleiman Gamblat as the new Minister of Military Production, following a long career within the military-industrial sector and senior leadership roles at the National Authority for Military Production.


 


Gamblat brings extensive technical, administrative, and operational experience to the post, having most recently served as Vice Chairman and Managing Director of the National Authority for Military Production. His appointment reflects continuity in managing one of the country’s most strategic industrial sectors, which plays a key role in supporting national defense requirements while contributing to civilian industrial production.


 


Educational Background


 


Major General Engineer Salah Gamblat is a graduate of the 31st class of the Military Technical College and belongs to the Weapons and Ammunition Corps. He earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Military Technical College in 1994, in addition to a bachelor’s degree in military sciences from the same institution.


 


He later obtained a master’s degree in mechanical engineering in 2001 from the Military Technical College. His academic qualifications also include a diploma in Total Quality Management, as well as a doctorate in engineering from the United States, further strengthening his expertise in industrial systems, quality control, and advanced manufacturing.


 


Professional and Leadership Career


 


Gamblat has held several senior positions within the military production sector. Between 2019 and 2023, he served as Head of the Technical Sectors at the National Authority for Military Production, where he oversaw production lines, technical development, and modernization efforts across affiliated factories.


 


From 2023 to 2025, he chaired the board of Abu Zaabal Specialized Chemicals Company, also known as Military Factory 18, one of the key production entities within the authority. During this period, he supervised industrial expansion and quality enhancement programs aimed at increasing both military and civilian output.


 


On August 27, 2025, he was appointed Vice Chairman and Managing Director of the National Authority for Military Production, a role that placed him at the center of strategic planning, operational management, and coordination between military production companies and state institutions.


 


Honors and Decorations


 


Throughout his career, Major General Engineer Salah Gamblat has received several official decorations in recognition of his service and professional conduct. These include the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, the Exemplary Service Medal, the January 25 Medal, and the June 30 Medal.


 


Ministerial Role


 


As Minister of Military Production, Gamblat is expected to continue efforts to modernize Egypt’s military-industrial base, enhance localization of advanced technologies, and expand cooperation between military production companies and the civilian industrial sector. His technical background and leadership experience position him to oversee complex production systems while supporting national development priorities.
